Aventura, Florida, September 14, 2004 - ImprovMiami.com,
a guide for South Florida improvisational theatre, announces
the creation of an annual awards show called The Improv Miami
Prizes 2004, or "Impys". The Impys are dedicated
to the promotion of the improvisational art form and to recognize
excellence both on and off stage. The event, to be held in early
December, will include almost all of the troupes in South
Florida for an evening that will raise the standards of improv
and have the audiences roaring with laughter as only an improvised
award show could accomplish.
Nominations will be announced on October 14th and will
be for the categories of Best Short-Form, Best Long-Form,
Best Extreme, and Best Sketch. Only troupes that
have performed at least five times in South Florida during 2004
will be considered and there will be 3 nominations per category.
Voting will commence on November 12th and each troupe involved
in the event will have one vote per category, but may not vote
for themselves.
Additional categories will be Best Stand-Up Venue, Best Improvisational
Television, and Best Improvisation Film.
The event will feature a showcase of talent from various troupes,
live performances, multi-media elements, and of course humor.
Details about the venue and show time will be presented as they
become available.
